  • The Eldorado girls' basketball team picked up a Black Diamond Conference win late last week, knocking off Carmi-White County 53-40.
Kourtney Phillips led the Eagles in scoring with 16 points, while pulling down seven rebounds. Taylor Goodley wasn't far behind with 14 points and handing out five assists.
Erica Graczyk also finished in double digits with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Ashton Unthank had eight points and five rebounds. Paige Zertuche finished with four points and Cassidy Morris tacked on two points.
Eldorado jumped out to an 11-6 lead and took a 22-15 lead into the lockerrom. The Eagles were able to keep CWC at bay, outscoring them 12-7 in the third quarter to take a 34-22 lead.
Eldorado, who just beat the Bulldogs less than a week ago at the Harrisburg Invitational, had better tempo the second time around according to head coach Josh Bradley.
"Right from the start we were pushing the ball up the floor and taking good shots," he said. "Last week we played in to their style and walked the ball up the floor with them and never got in to any offensive flow. Phillips came out very aggressive early and got herself in to a good flow, Goodley got herself going after she took a fingernail to the face and got cut, from that moment on she played a really good game.
"Graczyk and Unthank were aggressive around bucket and both knocked down some nice jump shots. Carmi gave us trouble in our first match up with late full court pressure and in (this) game we did a much better job attacking there press and got some easy buckets out of it."
Eldorado is scheduled to play at Pope County Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup.
