Gaines Nash, 91, Belleville, died Nov. 15, 2012, at St. Paul's Home in Belleville.
He was born in East St. Louis on July 7, 1921, to the late Jess and Clara (Gaines) Nash. He worked as a bridge toll collector and for the railroad. He was a World War II Army veteran.
He loved life, family and friends and his classic cars.
He is survived by many cousins, good friends and more recently his caregiver, Vonnie Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jess Jr. who was shot down over Austria in World War II and his wife of 57 years, Marion "Joan" Nash.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Dec. 1, 2012, at the Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday Dec. 1, 2012, at the Watson Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until service time.
