A Stonefort man died Sunday in Evansville, Ind., as a result of an all-terrain vehicle accident in Pope County.
The accident occurred at 10:07 p.m. Nov. 21 on Saddle Road half a mile east of New Hope Road. Jake Robards, 40, was transported to Harrisburg Hospital and then to Evansville, Ind., where he died on Sunday.
Illinois State Police at Ullin said Robards lost control of his vehicle causing it to roll over and eject him. The State Police said alcohol was a factor in the accident.
Robards graduated from Grass Lake High School in 1990. As a young man he loved sports and was an avid football player, wrestler and bull rider, according to obituary information. He was employed by Mid-America Machining in Brooklyn, Mich., as a service technician.
He is survived by his wife, Angela, two daughters and a son.
The funeral service is 5 p.m. Friday at In God We Trust Ministries Church, Golconda. Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville.
