The Henry and Stark County Health Department announces that members of
their Home Health Nursing staff recently attended the Homecare Across
Illinois' Annual Educational Conference. Gail Ripka, RN Health Department
Administrator, Pam Bennett, RN, Department Director of Home Health Services,
and Martha Rivera, RN Health Department Home Health Nurse attended this
important conference held recently in Springfield, IL.
Bennett states, "The goals for the conference were to discover how rural
facilities can participate in state lead healthcare reform initiatives that
encourage collaboration among providers to improve the overall health for
rural residents; to prepare for a licensing survey using policies, tools,
and training; look to the past and present to prepare for the impact of the
Affordable Health Care Act on home care; to prepare for conversion to
ICD-10; and to obtain the latest information on regulatory changes."
Bennett notes, "The Annual Educational Conference featured a multitude
of interesting topics covering such topics as healthcare reform and its
impact on rural communities; home health surveys and lessons learned; home
care finances of the past, present and future; data disasters - no small
matter; and a regulatory update for home care in the year 2012 and ahead."
In addition, the conference featured the Homecare Across Illinois'
Annual Meeting and Awards presentation.
"By attending conferences such as these, the Health Department's Home
Health Division continually strives to keep up-to-date on the latest trends
and innovations. This will only result in better home health services being
offered to our area patients," adds Bennett.
