I haven’t posted anything for awhile, and for good reason. Beer has been wiping me out the last couple of months, and so I’ve avoided it more, or less. I’ve tried drinking some beer, but most have ended up making me tired, and then giving me a headache, and that’s only after one beer, or two beers.
Then recently, a friend gave me a Tetley’s. Its an ESB from England, and its really good. The pour is a thing of beauty, and has a creamy, lightly malty flavor to it. Plus, its only 3.6 ABV. This was key, because I didn’t become tired, or get a headache. Suddenly, I now have a beer that I can drink again.
However, most beers are 5 percent, or more, and as much as I love them I know I can’t drink them on a regular basis, so I’ve decided to start focusing on making low ABV beers around 2 to 4 percent. I love beer, and want to continue being passionate about it, and right now this is the way I will maintain that passion.
I know making low ABV beers, or session beers, is nothing new, but I’ve avoided making them, because I liked the higher ABV beers, but now I have a new challenge to try and make an IPA that’s only 3 percent, and tastes good. Beer is now good again.
