The Harrisburg girls' basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 57-24 win over Anna-Jonesboro Wednesday night in the Harrisburg Invitational at Davenport Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter lead and would go on to outscore the Wildcats 16-5 in the second quarter.
It was also a big night for Harrisburg in the paint as Shelby Boer led the way with 17 points.
"Our players did a great job of getting Shelby the ball tonight," head coach Jake Stewart said. "Malayna Douglas played her best game of the her career, she was every where tonight. Overall this was a great team team win in which everyone who played contributed something."
Rounding out the scoring for Harrisburg included Ashley Ferrell with eight points, while Lindsey Murray, ALexa Burtis and Kelsey Hobbs all had six points.
Hanna Jones and Devan Jones each had four points, while Hayley Thompson finished with two points.
Only one player from Anna-Jonesboro scored in double figures. Kim Mixen had 10 points for the Wildcats, while no other player had more than six points.
"On the defensive side of the ball we played great," Stewart added. "Our intensity was as good as it could of been. When you hold a team that has shooters to just six field goals in a game, you have really done something."
