Bobby Twain Martin, age 86, of Piedmont, Mo., passed away at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.
He was born in Carrier Mills to Ray and Goldie (Russell) Martin on Aug. 14, 1926. Bob served his country as an electrician's mate in the U.S. Navy during which he earned three ribbons, American Area, Victory and Asiatic Pacific. He was honorably discharged in April of 1946.
Bob married Wanda Talbert and of this union three children were born. Wanda Martin preceded her husband in death in 1999. Bob married Normagene Gibbons and two children were born to this union. She also preceded him in death.
Bob was self-employed as a TV repairman. He and his brother Bill Martin owned and operated Martin TV Service in Harrisburg until 1973. Bob also worked at Eagle Two Mine in Shawneetown and Brushy Creek Mine in Harco. He loved playing the guitar. His favorite song was Jim Reeves' "Welcome to My World." He and Wanda spent many happy hours fishing for crappie.
Bob is survived by one son, Dale Martin and his wife, Susan of Galatia; one daughter, Bobbie Jean Nicley of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren, Mary and Todd Kuczynski of Harrisburg, Heidi and Curtis Hicks of Marion, Ky., April and Larry Mathews of Galatia, Dale Martin Jr. of Galatia, Gena Martin of Galatia, Jennifer and Troy Rush, Wayne and Lisa Martin, and Deedee Martin; and 12 great-grandchildren, Lily and Haley Martin, Whitney Henshaw, Kambria Campbell, Abigail and Josie Kuczynski, Paige, Dylan, and Kyron Hicks, Jayton and Kody Mathews and Reagan Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Fern Culberth; eight brothers, Lloyd, Joyce, Ray, Ralph, Lodeen, James N. and twin brother Bill Martin; three sons, Johnny, Jimmie and James N. Martin; and one daughter, Marlin Brewer.
A private family memorial will be held in Carrier Mills at a later date.
