A Ridgway man and an Eldorado man were injured in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Gallatin County 7:50 p.m. Monday.
Larry J. Baird, 37, Ridgway, was driving a Polaris Ranger west on Dickey Ford Road and was approaching the intersection with Cottonwood Road in Gallatin County, according to a release from Illinois State Police. The Polaris travelled off the north side of the road into a deep ditch where it overturned and came to rest upside down.
Baird and passenger, Darren W. Beaumont, 29, Eldorado, were ejected and injured. Gallatin and Saline County Ambulance transported the two to Ferrell Hospital and Baird was later taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., for further treatment, according to the release.
Open alcoholic beverages were in the ATV and at the crash site, according to the release.
Saline County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
Baird was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, reckless driving, careless operation of an ATV, illegal transportation of an alcoholic beverage and failure to wear a seat belt, according to the release.
Beaumont was charged with illegal transportation of an alcoholic beverage and failure to wear a seat belt.
