The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Office for Energy Assistance is offering low income residence assistance with winter heating costs.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program began accepting applicants Nov. 1.
Clients must bring proof of gross income for all household members for the 30-day period prior to the application date; copy of current heat and electric bills for the 30-day period; a copy of their rental agreement if renting showing whether utilities are included, monthly rent amount and landlord contact information; proof of Social Security numbers for all household members; proof is the household received TANF, Medical Eligibility, SNAP or other benefits received through the Illinois Department of Human Services.
A single-person household can qualify with monthly income of $1,396, two-person with $1,891; three-person with $2,386 and four-person with $2,881.
