The Harrisburg Elks are hosting a "Draw Down Raffle" at the Lodge Saturday, 202 N. Vine St., Harrisburg.
Last February when the tornado struck Harrisburg, the Elks pulled together to raise money for families in need, helped clean up homes, and helped rebuild the community. The Leap Day tornado also struck damage on the Elks' new property on Missouri Street. The proceeds from this raffle will go into the Elks' Building Fund to help construct a new building in the coming months, according to a release from the Elks.
At the new facility the Elks currently have a pavilion to be rented out that overlooks the lake. They hope to build a building big enough to house the largest banquet room in town for wedding receptions, holiday parties, work parties and other events.
The raffle tickets are $50 each and only 500 tickets are being sold. With the help of local citizens, the Elks hope to break ground in February, or as soon as the weather breaks for spring.
There are 20 chances to win cash prizes starting at $75, with the grand prize being $3,000.
They will begin at 7 p.m. upstairs at the lodge with the Old School Band providing entertainment. In addition, food will also be provided for those who attend.
Anyone can purchase a ticket from board members or at the lodge. The Elks are urgently asking the community to help support their efforts to construct a new building so they can continue to help the community, in addition to many charities, for centuries to come.
