Harrisburg Medical Center will hold a dedication of their Memorial Garden for the February 29, 2012 tornado victims, 1 p.m. Thursday at the south side of the hospital.
The victims are being honored with monuments in specially designed gardens, according to a release from the hospital.
Jaylynn Ferrell who was employed at HMC as a Registered Nurse has a special monument that includes her picture. Jaylynn was much loved by the staff at the hospital and is dear to their hearts.
Rodney D. Smith, President and CEO of Harrisburg Medical Center will speak and Jaylynn’s mother, Patricia Ferrell, will address the crowd. Immediate family and friends of those losing their lives, city, county, and state officials have been invited to attend.
The garden memorial was built in part with a donation from Medical Staffing Network, one of the largest providers of temporary per diem nursing jobs in the United States, who gave to help the hospital after the tornado.
“Harrisburg Medical Center more than appreciates the generous donations from several donors which made the monument possible. The tornado affected several of our employees who were injured, lost belongings, or their homes. The staff did an outstanding job of handling this disaster and learned much from the experience,” says Smith.
The community is invited to attend the dedication and the reception to immediately follow in HMC Conference Room 1.
