Two trailers burn, cause is suspicious

Harrisburg firefighters extinguished fires in two adjacent trailers on South Granger Street at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.

Trailers at 212 S. Granger St. and 214 S. Granger St. were heavily damaged.

Firefighters believe the cause of the fires is suspicious and will be investigating, according to Chief Bill Summers.

In June, Debbie Roark lived at the trailer at 212 S. Granger St. until she was arrested on a charge of arson June 28 - accused of setting fire to the 210 S. Granger St. trailer then rented by her husband, Daniel Robert Roark. She has remained held at the Saline County Detention Center since that time.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Daniel Robert Roark, 61, 70 W Lighthouse Road, Harrisburg, was arrested on a charge of criminal damage to government property after clogging the sink in the lobby of the Saline County Detention Center with paper towels, leaving the faucet running and causing a mess.

According to Chief Deputy Ken Clore the running water entered a part of the Saline County State's Attorney's Office, the small courtroom and the lobby. The sheriff's office called a carpet cleaner and have been using dehumidifiers to dry the carpets up.

No one was living in either trailer at the time of the Saturday morning fire and utilities were disconnected from both, Summers said.

Firefighters arrived Saturday to find one trailer fully involved with the adjoining trailer also on fire, according to the fire report.

At 7:05 a.m. the trailer at 214 S. Granger St. had rekindled and firefighters returned to find heavy fire on the east end.
