Eldorado resident Karen Ann Sutton, 58, was killed in a fire early Tuesday morning at her trailer at 1109 Garfield St.
Neighbor Michael Williams noted smoke in the area and called 911. A police officer checked the call out and located the source was Sutton's trailer. Firefighters began their response at 1:01 a.m., according to Fire Chief Mike McKinnies.
Firefighters were on the scene at 1:06 a.m., responding with two trucks, two engines and a service company.
"We were pulling hand lines when someone advised there was someone inside," McKinnies said.
Firefighters found Sutton at the foot of the bed. They removed her from the structure and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The ambulance arrived at 1:21 a.m., paramedics continued CPR and transported her to Ferrell Hospital.
Sutton died at some point between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., McKinnies said.
Saline County Coroner Jerry Doug Watson arrived at the hospital at 3:06 a.m.
Steve Banderra of the Illinois Fire Marshal's Office arrived at 3:18 a.m. to investigate the cause, but could determine none.
"We went through everything and cleared everything out the best we could, but it's undetermined," McKinnies said.
"The only thing we could find was a heater in the hallway."
