She was also affectionally called "granny" by many others. She is also survived by her aunt, Elsie King of Carrier Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, Bobby Gene Dempsey, Billy Ray Dempsey and Kenneth Dempsey Jr.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills with her former pastor the Rev. Joey Dunning and her pastor the Rev. Stan Irvin officiating. Burial will be beside her husband in Salem Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills.
The family would prefer, rather than a floral arrangement, that memorials be made to the Building Fund of the First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills. Envelopes will be available at the church or may be mailed to Greg Absher, P.O. Box 226, Carrier Mills, IL, 62917.
Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.
