  • Harrisburg Police are investigating the Sunday night shooting of a 15-year-old female living at 509 N. Granger St., the same address where Aretha Coleman was shot in June.
Harrisburg Police Chief Bob Smith said the female was lying on a couch in the residence when at 11:37 p.m. someone fired five to six shots into the house, one of which struck the girl in the hip area.
She was taken to Harrisburg Medical Center and transferred to another hospital, Smith said.
“We believe at this point there are no life-threatening injuries,” Smith said.
Police do not believe the girl was the intended target and Smith described the shooting as a “drive by” possibly intended to intimidate someone in the home.
Police canvassed the neighborhood and called in Illinois State Police Crime Scene services.
The June incident resulted in the arrest of Keiwan Andre Taylor, 22, Harrisburg, who is believed to have fired through a ventilator fan in a window at someone inside the home. That turned out to be Aretha Coleman who police also believe was not the intended target.
There are at this point no suspects and there were no witnesses to Sunday’s shooting, Smith said.
There are also no new developments in the early Thursday morning 500 S. Mill St. shooting incident that began with a report of Carlos Flowers, 37, saying he had been shot.
That incident resulted in Flowers’ own arrest on multiple charges after police gained information indicating he had fired about nine shots down the street as his attacker was fleeing.
“We are still attempting to identify one male we’ve been looking for, but haven’t had much luck. We are using every resource we have,” Smith said.
Flowers — who was grazed by a bullet — would not provide the name of his attacker.
Smith said the man is likely out of the area.
