Illinois State Police are investigating a woman’s crash into a tree believed caused by a swerve to avoid a deer, according to a release from ISP District 19.
Patricia L. Smock, 43, Elizabethtown, at 11:11 p.m. Sunday was driving north on High Knob Road about 1/2 mile north of Grindstaff Road when a deer entered the road from the east, according to the release.
Smock drove her red pickup truck off the road to the west before striking a tree.
She was transported by Gallatin County Ambulance Service to Harrisburg Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
The Equality Fire Department assisted.
No citations were issued.
