The Harrisburg High School Student Council has announced the schedule of activities for the 2012 Homecoming Weekend next week.
The Harrisburg High School Student Council would like to invite everyone to the Homecoming Parade, which will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday. The theme for this year is "Under the Sea." They are encouraging the community to design parade entries around this theme. The parade will begin at East Side School and end at West Side School.
Anyone interested in entering the parade must contact student council adviser Krystal Wilson at the high school by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 253-7637 (ext. 2127). Adviser Hilary Ford can also be contacted at the same number. Float information may be left with a high school secretary if the others aren't available. This includes school entries.
Information needed includes the organization's name, a contact person, address, phone number and email address. Parade packets will be mailed out as soon as possible after the advisers have been contacted.
Organizers ask there be no political entries in the parade and no bicyclists are allowed in the parade. Those who ride horses are asked to not ride up and down the parade route prior to the beginning of the parade.
In the interest of safety and in accordance with City of Harrisburg policy, no items of any kind may be thrown from parade vehicles. Those wishing to give items from a parade vehicle should have someone walk along the vehicle and hand the items out to observers.
On Friday during halftime of the football game, the 2012-2013 Homecoming Queen will be announced.
The homecoming dance is Saturday at the Harrisburg High School from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Coronation will begin at 8:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend the coronation.
