Naomi Boone, age 88, of Harrisburg, passed away 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Naomi was born December 5, 1923, in Harrisburg to the late McKinley and Katherine (Lanham) Parish. On May 30, 1941, she married Charles Boone and he preceded her in death.
Naomi worked many years in Harrisburg including Skaggs Drugstore, IGA, Woolworth's, The Brokerage and retired from Hart's Department Store. She was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, serving as a song leader and treasurer. Naomi will be remembered as a great cook, a good neighbor and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving family members include her daughter, Charlene (Wayne) Hale of Harrisburg; brother, Norman Parish of Herrin; daughter-in-law, Peggy Boone; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Will) Wilson, Scott (Joyce) Boone, Todd Boone and Casey Boone; five great-grandchildren, Victoria, Amanda and Bowen Wilson, Stephani (Chris) Ranes and Brandon Boone; and a great-great-grandchild, Hadley Ranes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Bobby R. Boone; sisters, Juanita Thomason, Theda McMeen and Mildred Banks; and two brothers, James Parish and Ernest Parish.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Jimmy Ashford will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
