JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — The judge at the Drew Peterson murder trial has given prosecutors his strongest rebuke yet after a witness broached a subject that was earlier barred.
Judge Edward Burmila told Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow on Wednesday that prosecutors displayed a "shocking" disrespect for the court and that they're giving the impression the court is "toothless."
Minutes before, pathologist Larry Blum told jurors how he climbed into the bathtub where Peterson's third wife was found dead. Blum was examining the cause of Kathleen Savio's death. The judge had said Blum couldn't mention that to jurors.
Burmila denied a defense motion to throw out Blum's testimony. But he angrily warned he wouldn't tolerate further missteps. The judge has previously berated prosecutors for similar blunders.
