  • “Crazy showmanship,” a new 4-H event at the Saline County Fair is set to begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday and is expected to bring a lot of humor and fun to the fair competitions.
Jennifer Hale, who came up with the idea for the event, said she has heard there will be everything from a goat dressed up like a ballerina to kids riding stick horses instead of the real thing. However, most participants are unwilling to share their plans for the event.
“It's kind of secretive because no one wants anyone else to steal their idea,” Hale said.
The entry fee is $10 and entries will be allowed right up until the show begins at 7 p.m.
The four events in “crazy showmanship” are goat/sheep, swine, cattle and non-livestock.
“Non-livestock pretty much means anything goes,” said Hale.
Costumes for both the participant and/or the animal are optional.
