The junior rodeo is coming to the county fair 7 p.m. Thursday at the grandstand and should be a big hit according to organizer Donna Rankin of Fremont Youth Rodeo, the sponsor of the event.
There will be three age groups, the Wrangers which are from four to eight, Juniors from nine to 13 and Seniors from 14 to 18.
"If anyone wants to compete they need the competition waiver signed by both parents if they are under 18," Rankin said.
Entries need to close at 5:30 p.m. Thursday so there's still time to enter.
There are four events per age group, pole bending, the catalog race, goat tying and the barrel race. More information on the events and waiver forms can be found online at www.fremontyouthrodeo.net or by calling Rankin at (402) 419-0191.
Youth can compete in just one event or up to all four in their age group. The entry fee is $9 per event.
"It's a buffet," Rankin explained. "They can pick and chose what they want."
"It's very cute. We had one in McLeansboro at the Hamilton County Fair and all the people who came said that was the best thing all week," Rankin said.
This is the first time for the event at the Saline County Fair.
The grand entry is at 7 p.m.
