Obituary: Jack T. Nolen

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Jack T. Nolen, 75, of Harrisburg, passed away at 9:19 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2011, Harrisburg Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1935, in Harrisburg to the late Kenneth "K.C." and Charlotte Sarah (Smith) Nolen. On June 28, 1980, he married Polly Moore, who survives.

Jack was retired from the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation. He was a patient advocate at Primary Care and an investigator for the Saline County State&#39;s Attorney&#39;s office.

Jack was a member of Jolly Boys, Second Team, past member of the Harrisburg Booster Club and Rotary. He received three Red Cross Life Savings Awards during his ISP career and coached Khoury League baseball for nine years. He was a former circuit clerk of Saline County for 10 years.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church and an Army veteran.

Surviving family members include his wife, Polly Nolen of Harrisburg; son, Jack Jr. (Lori) Nolen of Harrisburg; son, Jeff Nolen; brother, Kenneth (Sylvia) Nolen of Harrisburg; sister, Lynda (George) Henley of Harrisburg; sister, Joy Ann (Bill) Pyle of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Amanda West, Jennifer (Mike) Quertermous, Mallory Nolen Jarrett, Tiffany Nolen and Jackson Nolen; and eight great-grandchildren, Baleigh, Nolen, Bayden, Caden, Tommy, Brooklyn, Gavin and Gunner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Vinyard.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church in Harrisburg. The Rev. Richard Reed, Dr. Blaine Welker and the Rev. Roger Lipe will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church. Reed Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
