The final showings were "Due Date," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," "Megamind" and "Unstoppable."

In the days since workers have been removing equipment from the building. Thursday carpenters from E.A. Knight Construction of Carterville were boarding up the front doors and windows while workers of Precision Am Cargo of Denver, Colo., were packing up equipment inside for National Cinemedia which is the company that shows the programming prior to the start of the feature.

What happens to the building at this point is unknown, even to AMC.

Justin Scott, an AMC spokesman writes in an e-mail message, "We own the building, however no decisions have been made yet about its future."
