Police organized three drug buys Saturday and Sunday from both Jovail D. Evans, 32, 927 W. Barnett St. Apt. 9 A and Lucas Tyrone Smith, 27, 927 W. Barnett St. Apt. 9 B and obtained a search warrant for both apartments, according to Chief Bob Smith.

Sunday night a team composed of Eldorado Police, Saline County Sheriff's Deputies and Harrisburg Police executed the warrants simultaneously under the direction of Harrisburg Officer Sgt. Todd Cavender.

"One was a no-knock search warrant and one was a knock," Smith said.

Police seized 59 individually packaged suspected crack cocaine rocks and vicodin and hydrocodone pills, scales and sandwich bags from Smith and seized 1/2 gram of suspected crack cocaine from Evans, Smith said.

Police questioned women in the apartments and released them without expectation of charges.

Police charged both men with possession of controlled substance, delivery of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Smith said officers Nathan Moore and Kenny Shires conducted the investigative work leading to the search warrants and praised the Saline County Housing Authority administration for its cooperation.

"The housing authority is working well with us, giving us names of who is living where and cooperating in any way they can to get it cleaned up," Smith said.
