The 38-year-old Donald Trump Jr. was visible on the campaign trail at various moments throughout Trump's historic rise, and he is said to have helped usher former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski out, was a key figure in Dad's search for a vice president and as a surrogate, Trump Jr. echoed his father, only sounding a bit more ... sophisticated. "The hard-working Americans, the people who made this country so great, they've been left in the dust," Trump Jr. said back in March. "The left only worries about people who don't want to work, they could care less. They cater more to people who are here illegally and they care more about the feelings of countries that would love to see us wiped off the face of the Earth than they do hard-working Americans. It's ridiculous. And people get it. We've tapped into that." Here are three things to know about Donald Jr., who will run his father's businesses with his brother while Dad is in office:

He's the executive vice president at The Trump Organization

Partnering up with sister Ivanka and brother Eric, Don Jr. helps comprise the leadership at their father's namesake business. He was named to the post following a series of successful real estate projects that he was a central part of in the 2000's, he moved into his new role in furthering acquisition of new projects and overseeing real-estate development. As a role model, he looks up to his father. "I'm sure I will pick up a lot of his habits and a lot of his traits," Trump Jr. told Real Estate Weekly. "I think in real estate there could be a lot worse things than that. He's a great teacher. And he's great at what he does, arguably the best."

He's a family man

Trump Sr. is supposed to have introduced Donald Jr. to model Vanessa Haydon at a fashion show, before re-introducing the two again at intermission. In exchange for a $100,000 engagement ring, he proposed to wife Vanessa at a jewelry store, which his father was reportedly not too happy about given his honor in the last name. The couple has been married for nine years, and have five children together.

He's new to public life

After the very tabloids devoured every intimate detail over the divorce between his mother and father, Don Jr. did his best to stay out of the spotlight. As a teen, he went to prep school, and eventually enrolled in the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where his father rose to prominence. After battling a problem with alcohol he spent a year in the wilderness of Colorado, only to return to the city to take up the family business. From there he has gradually grown into more of a public figure. "When I was younger," he told New York Magazine years ago, "I went out of my way to avoid any kind of media attention."
